The Bravery

I’m sure that most people dont know this, but Jakob and Brock dont really get scared by anything.  Well just about anything.  We were watching an episode of Medium one night and the killer was wearing an alien mask and Jake just about crapped his pants right there when he saw him.

Nowadays though (and I’m not sure where Jake learned this word) whenever Jake sees something that he thinks is sort of scary he always comes and tells me that he is “Being brave.”  Yeah I think its kinda weird.

So we’re watching this video the other day:

At the very end they have the Zombies dancing and all that and I ask Jakob if he knows where that comes from, which of course he doesnt considering I was  his age when the video for Thriller came out.  So I decided to show it to him.  It was good times.  Him and Brock were watching it and the part where Michael Jackson turns into a cat/werewolf thing they were both freaking out pretty bad.  They both told me like 25 times a piece how “brave” they were being.  Then when the zombies were coming up out of the ground Jake kept asking me what they were doing.  I said, “They’re going to dance.”  Yeah he didnt believe me til we got to here:

Yeah he was still being brave.  The ironic thing is that after watching the cat guy and the zombies, the boys went to bed with no problem.  Good times.  Oh yeah heres the weirdest video I’ve seen in a while:

TV showdown

Ok, let me preface this a little by saying that I don’t have tv or cable or anything like that.  I get all of my tv off the internet, thus I only watch shows that I like.  That’s gonna make the shows that I like part really easy.  Shows I dont like on the other hand, is a totally different story.  Oh yeah, this all comes from a sweet action post from Mike my brother as seen here.  So here goes.

Shows I don’t like:

Anything that is reality TV.  I seriously dont know why people still watch this crap.  They’ve been beating a dead horse since Survivor.  Yeah I know there are different kinds of reality shows like The Bachelor and that one with Donald Trump.  That doesnt make it better.  So pretty much mark me down for not liking any reality TV.

I really tried giving this show a shot.  People seem to really like it.  I mean its over now, but thats not a bad thing.  It all comes down to James Spader being a douche and then the Shat being a pompous jerk.  And the cases sucked.

I like the original Law and Order.  Well back when Jerry Orbach (who coincidentally played the voice of Lumiere on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and is also dead) was on it.  This show I dont like though because I have never really liked the cop duo and a show about rape isnt really my cup of tea if you know what I mean.  On a related side note, I used to like L&O Criminal Intent until I realized that it actually should have been called the Vincent D’Onofrio Show. 

I can’t do this show for one reason.  In college I took a class called Quantitative Analysis which is a chemistry class where you learn how to use techniques and machinery to figure out how much of stuff is in other stuff.  So when I see the people on CSI in their super cool lab doing super cool chemistry stuff that I’ve done in real life (and know to be tedious and boring) I just can’t get into it.  Also I dont like William Petersen.  I think Grissom is kind of pretentious.  He is better than this guy though.

Granted I’ve only seen a few episodes of this all of which were at my in-laws house but I guess I just dont get it.  Gossip Girl yes, these girls no.  On an unrelated side note, my father in law likes this show even though I think he’d deny it to his grave.

Now for the shows I do like, and the list is long:

 

Big Bang.  If you havent seen it repent.

Chuck.  Rabbit.  Thats all I need to say about it.

Heroes was decent the first season.  The second season kinda sucked.  I caught up with the Third season over Christmas and ended up liking it again.  So we’ll see if this one stays on this side of the list.

Love this show.  By far my favorite guilty pleasure.  Oh yeah and Serena is hot.

I’ve liked OTH from the beginning more for the evil Dan Scott antics or maybe just the teen angstiness of it.  Oh yeah and I think according to Nielsen it had like the third highest product placement of any program on tv.  Good times.

This one is hit and miss with me.  I do like her husband, he’s a cool guy.  He is british though and thus completely incapable of saying anything with a correct –ing.  He doesn't see enithin wrong with it though.

House fills half my doctor show quota and he fills most of my jerky tv character quota.  His condescension is a model for all arrogant jerks such as myself.

Fringe.  Takes a bit of getting used to but the weirdness is good times.

Reaper is about a guy who’s parents sell his soul to the devil and now he catches escaped demons for a living.  It is funny and has a really hot chick in it.  Like Chuck but with demons instead of spies.

Pushing Daisies is now dead, but I like the whole Edward Scissorhands-ness of it.

Gary Unmarried.  By far the funniest new show on this season.  

Bones is awesome even for a procedural.  I dont know exactly what it is about it that I like.  I think its because Bones is kind of a weirdo and has no bearing on reality which makes her kind of clueless.  Also watching her beat people up and shoot stuff is sweet action.

Grey’s fills the other half of the doctor show quota.  I must admit the first season of this show was very good, but subsequent seasons havent been as well written.  The best scenes are always the ones with Dr. Bailey, the Chief or McSteamy.  It’s worth checking out Kar.  Come surrender to the bandwagon.

I must admit I dont know whats kept me watching Smallville for 8, thats right, 8 seasons.  I have seen every episode.  I was about to walk away too but this season they got rid of Lana and Lex and have been ramping up the sexual tension between Lois and Clark.  So yeah, I’ll probably ride it to the end.

By far one of my favorite shows on TV.  Everyone I’ve ever talked to that has actually taken the time to watch Supernatural ends up liking it.  Basically its about two brothers who cruise around helping people that have problems of a more “supernatural” kind.  My favorite episodes are always the ones where they have to find some ghosts body and then salt and burn the bones.  Man those guys can dig up a grave in like a half hour…

Awesome show.  My favorite episode is still that one in the first season where Dwight is getting a new health insurance plan and makes them all list what diseases they have so they can get coverage.  You’ll have to check it out.  It is way funny.

 

Anyway, I think there are a handful of shows that I watch that I for some reason didnt list but I think this blog is gonna take up a whole blog page anyway so I’m done now.

It’s over

Well I haven’t been to work in 17 days which has been somewhat awesome.  And by somewhat I mean excessively.  Nevertheless it is now over and I will return to the icy tundra of the INL tomorrow to make sure people don’t do stupid things to hurt themselves.  And to sample.  So what did I do for the holidays?  I watched a ton of movies including all the ones that the boys got for Christmas.  These included:

So yeah it was good times.  I hadn’t seen Three Amigos in like 20 years so it was good to actually see it as an adult who got all the jokes and what not. 

As for me, Christmas came last October when we got our new computer and on November 13 when this came out:

Just for you Suz.  Although I think that number is a little low.  I dont know if there are enough five year olds on earth to take me out in a fight.  Yeah I said it, and I think it makes me somewhat cold hearted, but no amount of munchkins like Jake and his buddies I think could ever overcome the raw brute force (and lack of conscious on the subject) of an adult male.  So there you go Suz.

Yeah I'm dead serious.  I dont try to fix things with my awesome mind powers or anything.  I did however know that the ship on the show Firefly is the Serenity.  I 've never watched that show, but I have seen the movie.  The movie being called Serenity of course.  So put your curiosity to ease, this just shows that a computerized quiz is no real measure of a person geekiness.  If it couldn't detect me, how could it really accurately gauge anyone else????  Then again its not like I'm one of the guys on Big Bang or anything....

Crushing Peer Pressure

K, so under the weight of the two comments I’ve gotten from Nat and Suz to gay it up and pick a “hottest” guy, I just can’t take the pressure any more.  A few words on my pick though, I dont necessarily think this guy is hot.  I like his character who so happens to be a real womanizer, but for the show he’s on, I consider him to be one of the only realistic characters.  Him and Dr. Bailey.  And thus I give you McSteamy in all his glory (his real name is Eric Dane fyi).

Just as a side note, guys really arent like girls in this aspect.  I know lots of girls who can tell you what girls they think are cute and all that.  Most if not all the guys I know don’t do this with other men.  It’s just how it goes.  Now eviscerate.

Eye Candy Post

K, so Nat posted about who she thought were the hottest actors. Here are my picks:

Megan Fox- most people know her from Transformers cuz I think thats just about the only thing that she’s been in that I have ever heard of. So yeah, she’s hot.

Kate Beckinsale is who I chose as the “runner up”. She has been in tons of things like Serendipity and the Underworld movies. I have to give her some extra credit though because she’s British.

K, with the TV picks, I had a really hard time narrowing it down, so I went with a three way tie:

Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck. She plays Agent Sara Walker and is a super hot hotty. I call her Rabbit though and if you’ve watched the show you know why.

Erica Durance- she plays Lois Lane on Smallville and has annoyed me going on like 5 seasons I think. This season though, Lana is gone so they’ve been kind of hooking her and Clark up and its been very interesting to watch. Oh yeah, she’s pretty hot too.

Blake Lively- she plays Serena Van Der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, the ultimate guilty pleasure show. She’s a hottie as well.

I must admit picking the music ones was very easy. I have:

Katherine McPhee- Yeah I never watch American Idol, but I still think she’s really hot and can sing really well.

And I guess in second place, but not far behind:

Carrie Underwood. Yeah she is hot and also sings very well.

Last but not least, I picked Grace Kelly as the old school hottie. I’ve only seen her in Rear Window but she was hot despite her weird 50’s clothes. Oh yeah, and this picture is really working out for her as well.

Now for the hardest one of all. I dont know of any guy who can honestly pick a man that they might consider a hottie. I’ll go with Nat that Justin Hartley is doing well for himself, but he has nothing on this guy:
